Material Supply ManagerProcter & Gamble Jul 2004 - Dec 2006After a short assignment as Logistics Supervisor I had the opportunity lead the plant’s Material Supply team conformed of 8 persons. This team was responsible of assuring the supply of raw and packing materials on time at the lowest possible cost. We closely worked with materials suppliers from several countries and with custom brokers / transportation carriers, managing a spend pool of +30 MM USD.This role developed my leadership skills both inside and outside the plant as well as strategic thinking. We developed a material supply strategy that would assure reliability, cost, quality and inventory and implemented it together with the plant’s manufacturing and quality teams but also with material buyers in LA, NA and Asia and with suppliers mainly in the United States, Europe and Mexico. I also had the opportunity to develop other people skills working with a very young organization that was requested to deliver very challenging objectives in a short period of time.

I worked on standardizing material and production planning processes leveraging the use of SAP R3. My work included executing the planning processes together with a group of 10 planners in order to fully understand the constraints they faced in their daily work and then lead a work process improvement effort to redesign the processes. System usage was improved, planning time and misses were reduced while enhancing communication with other areas that required the planning schedule to trigger manufacturing processes. Also in this role I had my first experience as part of a global team that developed a new process in order to improve the imports operation of raw and packing materials from the US into Mexico. The process was piloted globally in the plant and then reapplied to other sites.
