Scientific research and environmental assessment for the European project AFORE (FP7-NMP-2008-228589). The aim of AFORE project is to develop novel bio-based solutions and materials from forest residues. The tasks included are:- Estimation of the biomass available from eucalyptus forest industry in Portugal using forest growth models.- Modelling of economic and social indicators for the production, collection and transport of forest products: wood and biomass.- Modelling of the carbon sequestered by eucalyptus stands and forest products.- Modelling of the environmental impacts on air, water and soil caused by the removal / use of the forest residues.- Estimation of the GHG emissions resulting from forest operations, collection and transport of wood and forest residues from eucalyptus plantations to pulp and bioenergy plants.- Development of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) indicators for eucalyptus wood and eucalyptus bark.- Production of project reports and deliverables. - Administrative, financial and events organization assistance.- Project meetings attendance.

Scientific research and bibliographic research related to the Portuguese agro-forest ecosystems: theMontado. Tasks developed:1. Study area analysis using GIS (Arc-GIs).2. Field tasks: collection of soil and vegetation samples.3. Laboratory tasks: biochemical analysis.

Territorial Planning and Strategic Environmental Assessment- Research, development and production of environmental reports related to Strategic Environmental Assessment - SEA - (Directive 2001/42/CE) for local, regional and national authorities and private investors.- Ecological site analysis using Geographical Information Systems (ARCGIS & MIRAMON).- Analysis of the Ecological Connectivity Systems (i.e. interconnection of the green spaces at regional scale) using GIS software.
