The society is based in the United States and serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students, providing opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, service, and fellowship programming. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa has a presence in almost 1,300 community colleges across the United States and beyond. Membership is offered by invitation only to students who have achieved a specified grade point average and completed a certain number of credit hours.

My internship as a Policy Intern offered a unique vantage point into the intricacies of educational policy and its profound impact on communities, particularly in Ethiopia.The core of my internship revolved around conducting comprehensive research into the Ethiopian education system. This was not merely an academic exercise; it was an immersive experience that allowed me to delve into the multifaceted challenges and disparities within the system. Identifying over 15 areas for improvement, I learned to apply advanced data analysis techniques to translate educational data into meaningful insights. This process was instrumental in laying a solid foundation for my understanding of policy research and its critical role in shaping effective educational strategies.One of the most enriching aspects of my internship was the opportunity to contribute to the development of educational policies. This experience taught me the nuances of policy formulation – balancing idealism with pragmatism, innovation with feasibility. I learned to appreciate the complexity of creating policies that could realistically improve access to quality education, particularly in rural areas.Advocacy was another significant aspect of my role. Engaging in policy discussions and liaising with stakeholders, from government officials to local educators, provided me with a holistic view of the policy landscape. These interactions were not only enlightening but also vital in understanding the importance of stakeholder buy-in for policy implementation.More importantly, this internship was a journey of personal and professional growth. Renowned for being the largest in the Inland Empire, it boasts a triumvirate of campuses spread across this dynamic region, serving a vibrant student body of nearly 30,000. At the heart of Chaffey's mission lies a steadfast commitment to transforming lives through the power of education. In this esteemed academic landscape, I had the privilege of serving as an administrative assistant. My role was pivotal in supporting the Dean and administrative team, where I diligently performed a myriad of administrative tasks. My responsibilities spanned a broad spectrum, including ensuring our classrooms were well-equipped and conducive to learning, creatively designing and strategically placing informational flyers around the campus, and efficiently managing incoming mail.More significantly, I played a crucial role in student support. I assisted students with essential academic procedures, such as class registration and the request for official transcripts, and provided them with guidance and direction throughout the campus. My contribution not only supported the college's administrative framework but also directly impacted student success and their educational journey at Chaffey College.

Founded in 1961, it seeks to draw attention to human rights abuses and campaigns for compliance with international laws and standards. It works to mobilize public opinion to put pressure on governments and decision-makers to promote and protect human rights, and to hold them accountable for violations. Amnesty International's activities include researching and documenting human rights violations, advocating for stronger human rights laws and standards, and taking action to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated. The organization is independent of any political ideology, economic interest, or religion, and it finances its activities through contributions from its members and donations from the public.
