Not really looking for a job. I have burnt myself out over the years. In some ways I love and hate computers at the same time. I have always expected technology to advance much quicker than it has. I'm sure it has, but not for the general public. Half the stuff we are still doing (Chat/messaging/file downloads/games/etc.) on a daily basis.. a group of us were doing back in the early 90's. And I'm sure there were groups of others doing this stuff before us. With the speed and power of our new computers, most computer users only use a tiny fraction of processing power and resources. I guess it is similar to how many people use their wrinkled up wet hard drive and processor on their shoulders. I remember back in the early days, they told me a computer programmer would burn out around 2 years. I don't know if that is true or not, but I'm sure they get sick of doing the same stuff over and over again. So to keep from total burn out I learned many disciplines in the technology field. These included networking, programming, system administration, device management, MAC/PC/IOT repair and troubleshooting, web design, web development, hacking (white hat ;), OSINT, and my favorite security cameras & sensors. Over the years I have learned by book, magazine, and by watching others. Along came the Internet which opened up a library of text, message boards, videos and other resources. As I have gotten older and progressed I started formally taking classes and obtaining certifications. I don't necessarily feel the certifications made me a more competent worker in technology. But one thing they did was to verify I could pass a proficiency test in specific technology subjects. These also opened up jobs that required specific training and technologies. With the large amount of information, training, and opportunities out there on the Internet I worry for our kids here in the United States. Many are are too comfortable with their lives and do not have the drive to compete with the world for future jobs. Our snapchat, ticktok, YouTube, MTV fake reality type BS is a huge disservice to our country. Hopefully we can get more of our younger adults to use the Internet as the resource we all hoped for. We didn't spend hours on hours developing technologies and systems for a bunch of people to act dumb and show their goodies to the world. Well at least not for free ;)
