Since completing my apprenticeship with BT I have transitioned into a full time Platforms Engineer role which involves the following softwares/skills:Line Manager - I have been a line manager to apprentices working in my platform team. This includes training them on hardware/software, organising tasks for them to complete and paperwork for their university studies.Virtualisation - Using remote tools such as vsphere to create, maintain and delete virtual machines from our platforms.Active Directory - Creating, deleting and organising company accounts in organisational units with relevant permissions applied to access certain custom IIS applications.Windows Server Administration - Skilled at general administration/creation of windows servers from 2012 2022 OS. Example tasks server roles, storage, remote access, virtualisation, firewall, wsus updates, TCP/IP and troubleshooting.Group Policy - Creating and applying group policies to our platform to enforce security levels and general machine administration. WSUS - Installing an upstream/downstream method of automatically updating our platform servers with pre-approved KB article updates.SQL Server and Language - Installing and maintaining several SQL servers/databases that work together using various availability groups. So am experienced with databases failovers, migrations and running/editing SQL queries as part of software installations on our platform.Exchange - Configuring and maintaining a group of servers that receive emails and voicemails for our product.Security (SCOM) - Installing central SCOM console servers and associated backend databases to monitor the test platform servers and send out needed alerts to the on call managers.IIS - Completing configuration of custom IIS application on front end facing windows servers, to be accessed by customers outside of the organisation. Linux - Some experience with using Linux to configure SBCs to act as firewalls.

My apprenticeship with BT involved working in 6 month rotations of the following teams on a cloud contact centre platform:Test - Using HP software to create, organise and execute batches of both manual and scripted tests for releases from the development team. To then ultimately give approval for installation on live platforms. Development - Writing SQL scripts to query information from the backend databases and editing/fixing bugs in the C# language used for writing our custom add on software.Platform - Building and maintaining a complete test platform from scratch. Involving creating the vsphere VMs all the way through to installing and managing Microsoft standard software such as Active Directory, WSUS, Exchange and SCOM.Scripting - Creating custom requested IVR routing for customers/tenants on our platform with the XML file language through a GUI. Communicating with the customer to effectively capture requirements.Project Management - Leading multiple projects in various teams through my apprenticeship with knowledge gained from both shadowing the head of delivery team and theory practice from my degree. Leading projects such as upgrading whole test platforms from Windows 2012 software to Windows 2016 involved communication with stakeholders and hosting roundtables with the teams involved with the work.Network Design - Shadowing lead designers on the process to assess the company's current network requirements and design the test platform for our cloud contact centre to meet those needs. Support Shift Team - Working on the 24x7 platform 2nd line helpdesk to answer customer calls/emails and effectively logging them into a shared ticket system. Customer/Problem escalations were completed when was a critical issue.

My job involved assisting with the general maintenance of the online room in the Warlingham Sainsbury’s store. This included using different IT devices to check and manipulate stock into different delivery groups, cleaning and loading delivery vans with stock in a timely manner. At Sainsbury’s I was also trained to deal with customer inquiries by phone and email.
