Joseph Aro is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in leveraging geospatial technologies and data to provide insights and solutions for real-world problems. He is a GIS Leader and technical PM deploying spatial solutions that serve clients globally across various sectors, such as urban planning, mining, forestry, conservation, insurance, and wildfire modeling and monitoring. I bring the Big-Picture thinking and spatial clarity to your projects. Joseph is adept at end-to-end data collection processes, community profiling and enumerations, field engagements, as well as conducting large-scale drone mapping and surveys. He is also skilled in spatial analytics, climate change analysis, data science, and data visualization. He has a proven ability to build and lead teams of talented professionals to develop valuable process solutions to meet stated objectives. He is also a co-founder of OEA Consults Ltd, a former GIS consultant for GIS Cleric International, and an advisory board member at Spatialnode, a geospatial software company.Joseph holds a master's degree in environmental management and GIS from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and an advanced certificate in GIS from Josogie-GSIT Ltd. He is also a Data Science for All Fellow, a remote pilot licensed by the South African Civil Aviation Authority, and a Global Fellow at the centre for human rights and humanitarian studies. He has authored multiple publications on remote sensing, chlorophyll-a estimation, and language mapping. He is also an alumnus of the Climate Change Institute at the Brown International Advanced Research Institute, Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, Brown University.Joseph has led novel and innovative research ideas working with multinational and transdisciplinary teams. He conducted the first and only language mapping project in Nigeria, deployed AI-driven bathymetric mapping approaches to mapping the Lagos inland waterways, conducted needs and viability assessments for over 24 jetties and terminals in Lagos State, and mapped novel developments such as the Redline Metro-Rail in Lagos. He is passionate about driving data-centric decision-making and environmental solutions with geospatial intelligence.
