Joseph Bassey was born in 1996. He started painting at a tender age of 7 years old,which he won several awards and trophy for his primary and secondary school. In 2013, he studied painting at the prestigious University of Uyo art school(Uniuyo), and graduated as a best painting student in 2014 under the tutelage of Professor Best Ochigbo, Elder Imo Udosen, Bassey Ndon and Opedun Damilola. Joseph Bassey's original and continuing inspiration as a painter is drawn from the notion of art transcending time and outliving its creator. Inherent in his work there is a compelling dichotomy between the precision with which the artist frames his compositions and responds to his subject matter - and the subject matter itself - the minutiae of nature's atmospherics and the complex narratives of human activity through the use of TENEBRISM, a painterly technique that exploit and display illumination of light dramatically.Bassey's works are visual tributes to Nigerian life as it is evolving; contemporary culture and everyday activities of humanity.He is currently working as an Art Director/Educator at African Children's Aid Education And Development Foundation (ACAEDF), Eket.
