Installation and commissioning of Tofwerk’s ICP-Time of flight mass spectrometers (icpTOFs). R&D of sample introduction systems for the icpTOF including laser ablation, a microdroplet generator and single cell introduction systems.• Set up a Nitrogen source, microwave coupled plasma to generate ions for introduction to the TOF mass spectrometer.• Built a microdroplet generator to introduce single droplets of consistent size and volume to the TOF mass spectrometer.o Designed, sourced, and built the optics, fluid path components, and machined parts.o Code level analysis and debugging of the prototype software written in Python.o Worked with the software team to develop new UI and define the functionality.

Applications support and field service of Nu Instruments including multi-collector (ICP-MC-MS), Glow discharge (GDMS) and high resolution (ICP HR-MS) instruments in the US and Canada. Oversaw the design, manufacture, and installation of a custom laser ablation system (LA-ICP-OES) at Hanford Nuclear Facility and developed testing protocol to ensure functioning of system once installed. Set up and equipped Laser ablation ICP lab, built breadboard laser system for ablation cell & beam path design experiments, compiled chemical/radiological resistance data to guide engineering team and made material selections based on high radiation environment of 1x108 Rad (106 gy). Wrote operation manual for system and provided extensive on-site customer training. • Recruited and led team of five in design and manufacture of laser ablation system (LA-ICP-OES) that met 100% of demanding requirements set by DOE as part of their nuclear waste vitrification program• Set specifications for Nd:YAg laser and worked with laser supplier to build it • Built system prototype on a breadboard to define performance, QC and acceptance criteria for system• Designed user interface and functionality for control software including the development and debugging process

Manage laser Ablation Product line – including Installation, training, and customer Service for Cetac laser line. Hosted customers in laser lab to run samples and write reports. Handled competitive/market analysis identifying market needs/trends, and authored application notes and played active role in development of new products while working with sales/marketing to build promotional campaigns to build revenues. Gave product demonstrations for all Cetac ICP-MS sample introduction systems, at trade shows, customer sites and corporate. Provided installation and senior-level training/consulting on more advanced ICP-MS peripherals. Wrote user and service manuals, technical updates and ran unique experiments for application notes; communicated parts specifications to engineering and developed QC specs and procedures. I was responsible for the independent sales of Leeman Labs instruments and accessories including ICP spectroscopy instruments (>$100,000 systems), Mercury analyzers, direct metal analyzers, related software and services in the southeast territory. I developed personal and Internet based tools for improving the efficiency of territory coverage for the entire sales team. I organized and presented sales seminars, meetings and materials to represent Leeman Labs at trade shows, conferences and hosted user group meetings. Post-sale customer support via telephone and e-mail was also required to maintain high customer satisfaction. I was responsible for instrument demonstrations at customer sites, trade shows and accompanied customers wishing to visit the applications lab. Leeman ICPs are used extensively for wear metals analysis for industrial engines and drive trains. As a result of my expertise in the area, I was called on to consult in the set-up of a wear metals laboratory.

I was the first commission based sales rep for the North East territory for Milestone. Duties involve all aspects of demonstrating and selling Milestone products primarily microwave systems for sample preparation, organic extraction, chemical synthesis and accessories. Other products include instruments for Mercury detection, ultra-trace cleaning and reagent production for the semi-conductor and life science industry. My task was to develop and organize the territory, customer contact, lead generation and sales forecasting. I traveled extensively to demonstrate Milestone instruments at customer sites, develop analytical methods on-site and host larger demonstrations at seminars for sales and lead generation. I represented Milestone at scientific conventions and trade shows such as Pittcon, Winter Conference, FACSS and ACS shows. My role as an analytical chemist was employed for instrument demonstrations, application development, installation, training and on-site repair.
