I hold a BS in biology, an NYS certification to teach grades 7-12 in biology, and a minor in environmental studies from St. Joseph's University New York. As a member of the Rountos lab, I assisted on a NOAA grant looking at the synergistic effects of harmful algal blooms (HABs) and ocean acidification (OA) on the survival of early life stage forage fish. For my thesis, I looked at the potential synergistic effects of HABs and OA on the fitness of the marine zooplankton, Artemia, from cysts to two-week-old post-hatch. I am a graduate student working on my MS in biological and environmental sciences with a concentration in marine biology and evolution at the University of Rhode Island. As a member of the Wetherbee lab, I will be researching shark movement patterns using satellite telemetry. I ultimately hope to become a PI and professor, running a shark lab, and offering students the ability to research from a broad ecological scale to the molecular level about sharks. Through mentoring students to be the best researchers they can be, we can help shark conservation together.
