I’m Joey Carlin and I am currently a junior at the University of Pittsburgh. I am a student in the College of Business Administration and the Frederick Honors College pursuing a triple major in Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, and Marketing. For the past few years, golf has been a huge part of my life. I have worked seasonal positions at Commonwealth National Golf Club, Manufacturer's Golf and Country Club, and The Bucks Club in the last 4 years. In addition, I have volunteered with the First Tee of Pittsburgh and PGA Junior League as well as LIV Golf in Bedminster, NJ. Through student organizations, I have pursued this passion of volunteering and service. I am an active member in ESA, a dedicated service fraternity. I am also Vice President of Service in PBL, a professional business organization. I am also currently serving on the Young Professional Board for Western PA March of Dimes. In this position, I provide guidance for student volunteering and engagement. I was also selected for the board's Growth Subcommittee.Returning to my academics, I am passionate about analytics and the emerging use of machine learning and AI in business environments. I have an advanced understanding of Python, SQL, Tableau, and Excel. This semester, I began a new position as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for Business Analytics 2 (BA2). BA2 is a new required course for business students, meaning over 400 students are currently enrolled. BA2 is an advanced technical course focused on data manipulation and machine learning in Python. Being able to lead recitations and office hours has been a rewarding and beneficial experience.
