With the purchase of Ciba by BASF Corporation in April 2009, this position was given the responsibility to integrate both Ciba's Logistics Procurement and a variety of Supply Chain roles into their respective BASF functional departments while attaining synergy targets.Accomplishments included: 1. Led and contributed to several first year transportation initiatives which resulted in $2+million savings.2. Assisted in the integration of all Ciba direct reports into permanent positions.3. Ensured a successful and transparent transition of Ciba's transport and warehouse operational to BASF control and applicable managements.

Based in the company's North America headquarters, this position functionally led NAFTA and Latin America logistics procurement activities in support of Ciba's supply chain operations and business units. Managed a multi-country organization (staff of eight) that coordinated globally and regional all buying decisions and vendor management services. Budgetary responsibility was $85 million. Accomplishments included:1. Secured more than $8 million in transport cost savings via a series of intra/cross regional sourcing projects, new operational tactics as well as innovative negotiation strategies.2. Developed and implemented formal supplier performance programs which improved Ciba's on-time delivery and EHSS performance.3. Cited by the American Chemistry Council (ACC) as instilling Responsible Care disciplines and metrics into Ciba's supply chain and procurement functions.4. Proven record of success resulted in the 2008 expansion of the NAFTA regional department to an Americas organization which included Latin America.

As part of the centralization of all Ciba's supply chain services, this position was accountable to fulfill the region's (Canada, US and Mexico) distribution and delivery requirements. Managed a shared services team that provided procurement, logistics, EHSS and order delivery management excellence to a dozen individual sales organizations. Accomplishments included:1. Led RFP development and resulting project implementation for the outsourced transportation management and optimization (to a 3PL) of Ciba's US package goods (as well as other transport related services) which yielded per annum average savings of $1+ million. 2. Reduced W&T Ciba headcount by 52% (from 146 to 70) via a variety of re-structuring strategies with no adverse impact on operations.3. Reduced the region's transportation expenses by 20% ($5 million) by instituting region-wide carrier programs, standardizing customer lead times and making transparent the cost associated with order exceptions.4. Transitioned a highly de-centralized Warehouse and Transportation organization into a leading and respected cross-functional team which built strong working relationships with Ciba's business units and corporate leadership.
