Profile bio

About Joseph Cooper

Biomedical Sciences undergraduate from the University of Plymouth having specialised in Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Genetics and Neurobiology. My wealth of research experience began when I was an Assistant Scientist for a government-led programme aimed to improve lockdown measures through testing for the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 across the country. I operated liquid handling platforms to dispense RNA I manually extracted from centrifuged wastewater specimens prior to molecular testing via real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction. I did technical support work for a study developed by Attomarker, which was aimed to test for the efficacy of their Light Scattering Array Reader (LISCAR) version 6, where I conducted biochemical analysis for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 proteins in processed patient serum. I was also required to load processed patient samples in Roche COBAS automated systems and performed data reproduction procedures throughout my time working as a Research Technician for the CLARITY IBD trial, which was set-up to determine the impact of immunomodulators on Coronavirus antibody immunity in Chron's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis Patients.
