🖤Empathy has turned into a buzzword. ☠ Anytime a word or concept becomes too "buzzy," especially if it doesn't match what we value, the critic in us takes over.It's time to get curious about empathy.As buzzy and trendy as the word "empathy" is, there is SO much more. **🔥 So then what IS empathy? 🔥**⛔ EMPATHY is more than a feeling. ⛔ Empathy is not woo-woo or mystical. ⛔ Empathy is not soft. 💪 Empathy takes courage. 👉 Empathy means leaning into your own sh*t.💪 Skilled empathy with intention means you've done the WORK to hold space for yourself SO THAT you can hold space for others. 💪 Empathy requires deep, hard, often grueling emotional work ⛔ Because empathy is not for the people you get along with. 💡 It's not only for a friend, coworker, spouse, or child who is going through a crisis. 🤬 It's for the people with whom you experience the most difficult, annoying, frustrating, soul-crushing, shattering moments. 🕸 It's in the moments where it is easy for YOU to become emotionally triggered by someone else's actions or words. Those words usually come from the people with whom you are the closest (or used to be the closest).💔 Is that your spouse or significant other? 🤬 Is that your teenage child? 🎩 It might be your boss or employee. 💡 Could it be... your own voice? Your INNER CRITIC?
