In March of 2024, I was appointed to the Board Chair position of the Parks and Recreation Board.Duties and Accomplishments:• Review and decide on all proposed projects and bids that come to the council for approval. • Facilitate frequent communication between the Mayor, Police Chief, City Staff, and City Residents covering topics such as project and department updates, issues, concerns, and roadblocks.• Oversee, review, and approve finances for the Olivet Police Department.• Perform frequent reviews with Police Chief covering performance, finances, goals, and department resources.• Led effort to create a city-wide event request process along with documentation which will lead to better accountability, more efficient planning, an improved review process for requests, and ensures the city itself sits in a consistently strong legal position.• Stepped in as an IT Liaison on behalf of Olivet to ensure all technical needs and requirements are met and we are not overpaying for work. So far, this has resulted in thousands of dollars in savings.• Successfully advocated for an instatement of a Parks and Recreation Board and upon instatement was subsequently voted to lead as Board Chair.• As P&R Board Chair, I am responsible for assigning and overseeing all tasks and direction within the board.• Started hosting consistent and frequent meetings with the Police Department and the Olivet School System to ensure the contracts pertaining to school safety are made and kept accurate, that all parties agree to and are adhering to all terms and conditions, and that Olivet, the Olivet Police Department, the Olivet School System, and the State of Michigan are happy with the arrangements now and the plans going forward. I teach programming and SDLC best practices to new and experienced students and developers.I work one-on-one with people and teach topics such as programming basics, requirements gathering and interpreting, clean and scalable software development, as well as many others. For multiple development teams, this placed myself as the sole subject matter expert of both sides between our cyber security teams and the developments teams and would result in scans becoming fully autonomous, a significant ‘shift left’ for all application security tasks, decreased overall application development time, increased scanning code coverage, quicker security-related bug resolutions, development teams better understanding their vulnerabilities which also reduced them in future projects, project management risk became significantly reduced, and ensured the State of Michigan maintained good legal standing at all times.• Built a robust, configurable, and fully compliant website and website features template that includes all common pages and functionality used across our team. This allows for us to provide rapid mockups, even with custom designs, as well as reduces development time from weeks to days.
