A motivated Pharmacologist II in the In Vivo Tumor Biology group dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics, both small molecule and biologics. As part of a multidisciplinary team, perform in vivo studies for the pharmacological evaluation of novel agents. Interact with in vitro biology, translational/biomarkers, toxicology, clinical research, and medicinal chemistry teams to advance oncology agents through the R&D pipeline.•Perform in vivo studies and incorporate pharmacological skills (dosing, surgery, imaging and collection/processing of blood/tissues) to evaluate the efficacy of novel agents.•Contribute and lead development of new disease models and explore disease mechanisms and mechanisms of drug action •Perform supporting assays (cytokine profiling, ELISA and western blot analysis of tissue lysates, cell culture, etc.) to assess target modulation levels and downstream effects •Demonstrate a high level of initiative in troubleshooting experiments and performing data analysis •Effectively collaborate across all intra and cross functional teams •Maintain broad knowledge of literature and state-of-the-art technology

Assessed antitumor and PK/PD relationship of novel Peptide Drug Conjugates (PDCs) and small molecules directed against oncology targets in various in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro studies. Data generated has contributed significantly to understanding MoA of PDC and to moving project towards Candidate Selection milestone.•Established multiple xenograft and syngeneic mouse models of various cancers for evaluation of compound efficacy•Assisted with establishment of intracranial model of murine glioma and performed image analysis using IVIS (Xenogen) to track tumor development•Evaluated antitumor activity of compounds in various models of human cancer•Performed in-life portion of various tissue distribution, PK/PD and safety/toxicity studies in collaboration with various groups within Eisai•Performed cell culture and generation of cell banking stocks for multiple cancer cell lines•Responsible for all aspects of data generation, reduction, statistical analyses, interpretation and presentation of research data to multiple research groups•In a collaboration with an external biotech company I was responsible for generating the key in vivo efficacy data to move a novel PDC to POC status

In vivo, ex vivo and in vitro inflammation model development and validation and small molecule compound screening for efficacy and PK/PD relationship evaluation and drug candidate selection in multiple projects.•Established Air Pouch and Intraperitoneal inflammation PK/PD models in rat and performed compound evaluation in these models•Established MRL/lpr lupus model, performed compound evaluation, and coordinated sample analysis among multiple sites in Merck Research Laboratories•Set up analyses using Advia hematologic system, flow cytometry, ELISA, differential cell count, cell surface marker and cytokine measurement•Performed microtitration of compounds via ECHO and stimulation of rat blood via Biomek for HTS screening of small molecules and advancement of hits to in vivo disease models•Trained junior scientists in disease monitoring and sample analysis
