Joseph is a Native Nation Rebuilder, an affiliation of Tribal Nation Leaders serving their nations as change agents. Throughout his professional career he has used his valuable insight into the most effective economic and community development strategies in Indian Country to support a new vision and direction for his community. Among the most influential experiences of his career has been the opportunity to serve his Tribe as the Executive Director of Pathways to Prosperity (P2P), a tribally chartered non-profit organization created to implement the Tribe’s ten year poverty reduction plan. It was through this experience that Joseph gained his insight and used it in the crafting of the framework for the tribe’s promise zone application. The Pride of the Great Plains Promise Zone, as it became known, was selected in the third and final round of applications receiving a Presidential Designation as a Promise Zone. Prior to its revision after being awarded, the Pride of the Great Plains Promise Zone had 55 implementation partners from across the U.S. and strategies designed to promote regional prosperity. Another of Joseph’s greatest honor’s, outside of being a husband and a father, has been serving his tribe as an elected official within the Tribal Government. Joseph was elected to two consecutive terms and served from 2016-2020 as the Chairman for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Judicial Board. During this opportunity, Joseph led the TMBCI Judicial Board in strengthening the Rules of the Court, developed procedures supporting improved court operations, and advocated for improved TMBCI Policy after identifying systemic issues within the TMBCI Tribal Code and the TMBCI Constitution. Joseph possesses a perspective unique to those who have had the honor to serve their Tribal Nations and dream of something better for their people.
