Professor Farhat, holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics with a major in Corporate Finance and Investments from the University of New Orleans, MSc in Economics from the University of Jordan and BSc. in Economics from the Zagazig University, Egypt. Prior to joining CCSU, Professor Farhat was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Southern Connecticut State University, Investment Consultant for the Social Security Investment Commission in Jordan , Assistant Professor at the Hashemite University-Jordan, Adjunct Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Jordan, Academic Computing Statistical Consultant for the University of New Orleans and Academic Computing Consultant for the School of Business at the University of New OrleansIn 2002, Professor Farhat received the Toussaint Hocevar Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award for his academic achievement. He was the 2006 recipient of the Best Paper in Corporate Finance Award from the Southwestern Finance Association (SWFA) for his scholarly activities and was placed on the CCSU Excellence in Teaching Honor Roll in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Professor Farhat is recipient the 2011 CSUS Board of Trustees Teaching Award. Professor Farhat is the Editor of the Banking and Finance Review (BFR), a bi-annual, peer-reviewed international research journal that provides a publication outlet for theoretical as well as empirical issues in the fields of banking and finance. His major research interests are Corporate Finance, Banking and Quantitative Finance. His papers have been published in Review of Financial Economics, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting , Journal of Economics and Finance, Managerial Finance, Global Journal of Finance and Economics, European Journal of Economics, Finance and Administrative Sciences, Journal of Financial Education and North American Journal of Finance and Banking Research.
