  • Freckle Face Farms
    Chief Executive Officer
Freckle Face Farms Feb 2024 - Present
    Fresno, California, United States
Freckle Face Farms is a natural capital asset company focus on agriculture and water infrastructure. At our core we own and operate orchards with strong cash flows, and long-term investment horizons. We focus on areas with strong government groundwater allocation policies. This allows us to build resilient agricultural supply lines for clients in the face of climate change water scarcity. Water Infrastructure: On the same agricultural lands, we water bank excess storm water flows, that is sold to growing municipalities, in Southern and Northern California.
  • Umidaag (Umida Agriculture)
    Chief Executive Officer
Umidaag (Umida Agriculture) Mar 2018 - Present
    Fresno, California, United States
At Umida Ag (Umida Agriculture), we help farm operations deal with water scarcity due to climate change and/or government climate transitional policies. Farm operation using our solution meets EU Taxonomy Article 9 guidelines.Umida Ag value proposition is an alternative solution to retiring agricultural land due to water scarcity. With Umida Ag’s hardware and software, a farm operation can keep full orchard crop production in arid regions with just 245 mm/10 acre inches of applied water for the growing season. Our baseline objective is to achieve localized groundwater balance for the client’s farm operation, thus making the farm operation sustainable for generations. During “wet years and/or atmospheric downpours” our infrastructure is designed to recharge the groundwater with excess runoff. About this position: I get the joy of working with a team that is literally on a path to saving the world from hunger due to water scarcity. What could be more rewarding than that? I get to work with top scientists on hydrology and boots smart farmers on break new ground in water management. On the business side, I am given the opportunity to teach the business staff the lessons I have acquired from the many years in business, across multiple industries. There is no doubt that the team, the collaborators and the large support base are all in for the purpose of the company “to save the world from hunger”.I lead the company by leaning into transformative changes, into what others say is impossible, what hasn’t been done, by rethinking what the outcomes of trials have shown the team. Demonstrating the joy of failures as a teaching/learning moment and downplaying the successes so we do not lose prospect of the humongous task ahead of us.Joseph@UmidaAg.com
  • Grey4Green.Com
    President
    Grey4Green.Com Apr 2016 - Present
    Compton, California
Is a greywater equipment manufacture, and teaching platform to enable Do It Yourself (DIY) homeowners the skills to install greywater diversion and distribution for landscape irrigation. On the commercial building side, we assist developers on planning for greywater landscape irrigation as a way to make the commercial building more sustainable and resilient in the face of growing water scarcity. Greywater / Graywater is NOT recycling “purple pipe” water, which is treated sewage water. Greywater is lightly used water, directly from bathroom showers, bathroom sinks, laundry and air conditioner condensation. This lightly used water is diverted and used without any treatment for landscape irrigation without harming the plants. By utilizing greywater for landscape irrigation, a home or building’s water footprint can be reduce by 50% or more. Think of all the green landscape you see today and how much water can be saved if all the landscapes are irrigated with greywater. Our Grey4Green brand has reached every state in the union and many of the USA territories. About this position: As president of the company, my main responsibility is to make sure the company is in the right position as government mandates require all buildings to be greywater ready. This includes directing “greywater” awareness across the marketplace and setting direction for wider acceptance plan nationally and internationally.www.Grey4Green.comYouTube Channel - Grey4GreenJoseph@Grey4Green.com
  • Aquifer Pipe
    Founding President
    Aquifer Pipe Jul 2015 - Mar 2018
    Long Beach, California
AQUIFER PIPE – INVENTOR / FOUNDERAquifer Pipe launching in January 2016. Was designed out of a need for California’s Drought. The product was conceived as a way to keep my landscape green and fruit trees alive. The Aquifer Pipe is a subsurface irrigating pipe design that mimics nature’s underground streams and water tables. The goal was to eliminate water evaporation and water lost to deep percolation.Neighbors thought I was crazing digging up my lawn in the early winter of 2015/16 but I was determined to apply my understanding of soils and what I learn as a farmer years ago to saving the fruit trees I enjoy each summer. ( the same neighbors became clients in following years) Trial and error and a lot of earth movement, the pipe design shown its efficiency and effectiveness in keeping the plants alive through the summer using only greywater. With that an innovation company is born with a product that increases water efficiency and increase food security for farmers around the world. Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before? We (the inhabitants of earth) had water to waste. Innovation such as these are hard to classify, some terms used by others have been Climate Tech, Eco Tech, Climate Smart Agriculture Tools. The innovation helps anyone trying to keep plants alive in landscapes or on an agricultural farm using little water or using an alternative water source such as greywater. The company was partly funded by SC Johnson through a grant on using recycle plastic in the development and eventual construction of the innovation. About this position: Required high degree of creativity and collaboration across multiple disciplines, including collaboration with alpha / beta customers and/or scientist.
