Joseph Ivory is a private practice Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Montgomery,AL. Before pursuing his undergraduate and graduate studies, he served as an US Army infantryman with two tours in Kuwait for training and border patrol operations. During his undergraduate studies, he joined the US Army Reserve and served as a Drill Sergeant in the 84th Division. After completing his graduate education, he came back on Active Duty and served four years as a dentist in Special Operations (7th SFG(A)) with three tours in Afghanistan. He then applied for specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and completed residency in 2013. After serving as a residency mentor for one year, he completed a fellowship in the Oral Facial Surgical Institute of St. Louis. He then served as the Assistant Program Director in a four year residency training program at William Beaumont Army Medical Center on Ft. Bliss, Texas. He finished his military career as the Program Director of a four year residency training program at Dwight D Eisenhower Army Medical Center on Ft. Gordon, an Assistant Professor in the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and Adjunct Faculty in the Dental College of Georgia. He is currently in private practice with Dr. Sami Nizam at Alabama Surgical Arts in Montgomery, AL. His education includes A.A. in Liberal Arts, A.S. in Biology, B.S in Microbiology, D.D.S. and Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Joseph Ivory is also currently certified as an ATLS Instructor and holds certification in PALS, ACLS and BLS. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Diplomate of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, a Fellow of the North American Board of Dental Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit and has been awarded the A proficiency designator for professional excellence and national prominence in his field by the Army Surgeon General.
