The Capital Projects IT/IM Manager for the operated assets in the East is end to end accountable for the delivery of the IM (document and data control) and IT scope of work (applications, IT infrastructure and field telecoms) for all capital projects within its portfolio. The role is also accountable to manage and motivate a delivery team (including the local IM/IT community) which is particularly challenging in today's low oil price environment.

Dubai

Majnoon in Southern Iraq is one of the world’s largest oil fields. Shell is the operator developing the field together with partners Petronas and Iraq’s Missan Oil Company. The Capital Projects IT Team is accountable for delivering the project IT Scope of Work. Recruited to lead and oversee new IT infrastructure projects in Iraq and to apply experiencegained in Malaysia. Engaged stakeholders in order to solicit requirements and demand for ITservices and infrastructure. Managed delivery of documentation, assurance activities and scope ofwork; in line with project budget, schedule and expectations.Key Achievements• Spending significant time on site to understand the challenges and environment faced inIraq. This enabled the development of realistic plans as well as providing insight into therisks that need to be mitigated.• Delivered key telecommunications infrastructure in Iraq by managing a multi-facetedteam of contractors to deliver the defined scope of work.• Creating awareness of information security risk through a month long engagementprogram covering multiple locations in Iraq and Dubai.• Trained in the permit to work system and supervised onsite IT infrastructure activity to ensure the method statement and risk mitigating measures are adhered to.

With major capital projects to develop Malaysia’s Deepwater blocks in the pipeline; solicitedrequirements in order to develop project IT plans in line with the target business opportunity andscheduled. Engaged key project management members to understand the project activities andvalue they are trying to achieve and recommending fit for purpose solutions to meet thoserequirements.Key Achievements• Regularly engaged a diverse group of stakeholders from Project Directors to Discipline Engineers.• Secured yearly budgets based on planned project activities for the year after havingengaged stakeholders to understand the requirements and activities for the year.• Planned and deployed systems such as the data historian; to enable real time monitoringof instruments; and data quality tools which helped improve the population of datawithin the computerised maintenance management system (i.e. SAP PM).• Developed IT scope of work as part of large Engineering, Procurement and Constructiontenders and evaluated the submitted bids.• Deployed to China to execute business analysis activities for upcoming projects in theregion with the end result being an IT strategy being developed and approved.

Sarawak, Malaysia

Moved to an upstream operating environment to obtain first-hand experience of Shell’s corebusiness. Provided application support services to the engineering community and onboardingnewly deployed applications into the support model. Managed access and availability of end userlicenses to ensure minimal disruption to engineering activities.Key Achievements• Promoted to team lead and planned for annual budgets as well as allocation of resourcesto deliver the required support services• Planned and executed a virtual collaboration campaign to promote the use of virtualworking tools and practices in place of travelling.

Cyberjaya, Malaysia

After a rigorous interview process, accepted a position at Shell under a program that fast tracksthe career progression of selected IT professionals. Resolved frontline incidents within the agreedservice level and worked on initiatives to improve operational performance to meet set KPIs.Key Achievements• Developed and operationalised tools and templates to reduce the number of interactionsrequired to resolve open incidents.• Coached a new team who were formed to deliver a newly on boarded service.

Bukit Jalil, Malaysia

Recruited into the graduate program and assigned to develop Lotus Notes applications as part ofan integrated solution with other application suites. Subsequently progressed to the position ofOracle CRM Consultant to provide services to clients; based on the Oracle suite of CRMapplications.Key Achievements• Documented process workflows and configured customer service module for anautomotive insurance provider.• As part of a project team, integrated customized Lotus Notes applications with Oraclebackend for a real estate developer• Prepared proposals for a CRM system that would manage multiple communicationchannels for a city council.
