Joseph McSween has mastered multiple mediums of art with a current focus on oil painting and tattoo art. Past mediums have included spray paint, acrylics, technology, ink and silk screening. With a singular palette that ranges from pop pastels to deep set primary hues, his portrait-inspired works capture an ethereal emotive bent while holding edge in layered and unexpected mediums. His work stays in the realm of the surreal with unanticipated visual notes. McSween's understanding of the complexities and subtleties that exist in the female form are apparent in the unending expressions he bestows upon his muses. Influenced by old world masters to contemporary makers, he waxes seamlessly through graffiti to traditional techniques.McSween has exhibited his work in over fifty domestic and international exhibitions including, The Orange County Museum of Art, Thinkspace Gallery, Compound Gallery, Gallery 1988, Flatcolor Gallery, Blackbook, Ronin Gallery and Monster Children Gallery.
