I am a water resource engineer with 10 years of industrial experience related to environmental compliance, water treatment, mixing zone analysis, hydrologic modeling, and recycled water permits. Prior to consulting, I worked at Freeport McMoRan’s Sierrita copper mine managing water quality programs while supporting permitting projects through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Army Corps of Engineers 404 program. I was a key member of a community engagement team responsible for presenting technical information to stakeholders, including the local community and tribes to support a large mine expansion project. Upon returning to graduate school to obtain a master’s degree, my research investigated copper speciation and binding to dissolved organic material in pulp and paper wastewater effluent to measure its effect on bioavailable copper concentrations relative to Biotic Ligand Model. This research is relevant to industrial clients as agencies change their approach to regulating copper discharges in stormwater and wastewater. After graduation, I entered consulting where I worked for Golder (WSP) and then Parametrix supporting a range of clients such as natural gas utilities, solid waste management companies, historic state parks, metal recycling companies, data centers, and ports. I have expertise with supporting industrial and municipal recycled water permits for beneficial use activities such as irrigation of farmland, and work directly with state agencies, operators, farmers, and soil scientists to develop operation’s plans for permit compliance.
