Avp: Treasury - Consumer Bank Finance
I was responsible for financial and treasury support for Synchrony's online direct banking business. Blp Rotation #3: Commercial Finance
In my final rotation as a BLP, I supported the finance team for Synchrony's Retail Card platform. In this role, I consolidated submissions from each portfolio team on matters including forecasting of revenue and expenses, card penetration and volume, and ad hoc data requests. I regularly prepared reporting for platform leadership and improved the format and preparation of regular reports, including work in support of the business development/new client team. In addition, I verified each portfolio's forecasting by preparing independent forecasts and challenging the portfolio teams when their forecasts appeared unlikely to come to fruition. I also prepared documentation on the calculation of Retailer Share Arrangement payments made to partner retailers to validate that payments are always correct and on-time.

The Business Leadership Program (BLP) is a two-year, three-rotation leadership development program aimed at building domain as well as company and industry expertise. BLP incorporates real world experience with cross-functional, customer and community service experiences focused on both professional and personal development.Finance BLPs gain experience in financial planning, accounting, operations analysis, auditing, forecasting, treasury/cash management and commercial finance. During my second rotation of the Business Leadership Program, I played a key role in the accounting group's period-end closing process. I reviewed submitted Journal Entries (JEs) for accuracy and compliance with policy and either posted submitted JEs to the General Ledger (GL) or worked with the preparer to correct any defects, and regularly collaborated with financial systems experts to ensure that the GL accurately reflected all posted JEs. I improved audit reports to ensure that external auditors would receive prompt, clear, and defect-free reports. I led changes to the GL to properly account for the company's shareholder dividend and share repurchase plans, coordinating between stakeholders in regulatory reporting, tax, and financial planning & analysis to develop a simple and streamlined group of new and modified GL accounts. I also drove improvements to the company's tracking of accounts subject to currency translation adjustments and GL accounts subject to remeasurement and revaluation.
Blp Rotation #1: Financial Planning & Analysis/Reporting
During my first rotation of the Business Leadership Program, I was a member of the HQ Financial Planning & Analysis team. I supported weekly quarterly and annual forecasting of key P&L and Balance Sheet metrics across the company, consolidating results and challenging submissions from field teams.
