As a Mechanical Engineer, I am involved in most aspects of the engineering design process. My main job is to bring customer ideas to life though the design process. I lead many of these projects all the way through this process until the reach the production stage where my responsibility shifts to engineering sustainment of the project. I work within a group of engineers where I am either acting as the lead integration engineer or acting as a support engineer. Multiple projects occur at once in different stages of development, so time management and planning is required. Throughout the process, I am heavily involved with executives in the company as well as project management/project assurance to ensure the engineering process and subsequent processes like warehouse and production management run smoothly. This includes documentation improvement/creation, process flow optimization, information distribution, communication, etc.Phase 1 of the process includes project kickoff, whiteboarding, concept development, idea sketching/early CAD, and proof of concept (POC) development if necessary. Here, I bring an idea from a customer to a plan of action that has a clear vision for the design process going forward that can be confirmed by the customer. Phase 2 of the process includes detailed CAD design, material selection, strength/tolerance analysis, and product optimization. Here, I take the plan from Phase 1 and turn it into a detailed CAD representation of the product alongside all relevant documentation and drawings needed to construct the product.Phase 3 and 4 of the process and prototype construction and handoff to production. Here, I create production level documentation such as Work Instruction, internal part creation files (3D Printing/Laser Etching/etc.), and product testing.

This was the third semester of a Co-operative work experience • Returned to Body shop to finish up previous projects and tackle much larger tasks due to a prerequisite knowledge of the shop from a previous semester.• Lead project to setup vibrational analysis of elevated linear transfer rails including setup of a wireless interface node and sensor firmware and software.• Gained significant knowledge of advanced welding and space frame construction.

This was the second semester of a Co-operative work experience• Worked alongside full time Planning Engineers and Maintenance team members to plan P.M.s, PdMs, and Shutdown Projects.• Main project was creating a datasheet of every piece of equipment in the shop, adding missing equipment to existing lists, and removing old equipment.• Gained a large about of knowledge in SAP internal databasing system, Microsoft Excel, and Python.

This was the first semester of a Co-operative work experience.• Worked alongside other full time Engineers on multiple projects ranging from building safety development to line cycle time and efficiency improvement.• Main project consisted of creating a system to clean harmful residue from the car carriers (GeoPallets) before they returned to the beginning of the line. • Required intense project timeline management to assure projects were kept on schedule.• Learned multiple shops skills including welding, machining, and additive/subtractive computer aided manufacturing.• Learned to design and handle a large scale multi-faceted project in CAD.
