About Joseph Pack
Joseph Pack is a digital engineering (DE) and mission engineering (ME) subject matter expert, beginning work with emerging digital engineering trends as far back as 2012 and mission engineering dating back to 2010. As a mission engineer, Joseph primarily focused on applying engineering principles to operational assessments, including correlating Fleet capability assessments to engineering artifacts. As a direct result of his work, the Fleet created several urgent operational needs statements resulting in the creation of major acquisition initiatives. Joseph's work has mostly centered on subjects and technologies "outside of the mainstream" for his host organization, often leading to opportunities to show how innovative digital approaches can yield more informed system requirements and smoother transition of technologies to the Fleet. Joseph has also worked with USMC, joint, and coalition partners on a variety of DE and ME related tasks, giving him a diverse defense background. Due to his long-standing history in the mission engineering field, many of his products and concepts can be found in major academic programs currently instructing the next generation of mission engineers.In 2022, he was named the NAVSEA Warfare Centers Headquarters' first Digital Engineering Lead. Here, he lead a multi-division team of DE advocates and spearheaded the creation of a common Digital Engineering Framework, currently enforced through a new headquarters instruction. This assignment will continue until early 2025 when he begins supporting USD(R&E) DTE&A in a variety of DE and ME aligned pursuits.Joseph completed his undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University in 2009 where he earned a Bachelor's of Science in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. In 2010 he earned his certification as a federal enterprise architect from the Federal Enterprise Architecture Certification Institute based out of California State University at East Bay. He also received his Master's of Science in System's Engineering from George Mason University with a concentration in Architecture Based Systems Integration, where he received academic honors, in 2017.
