Leadership Philosophy The focus of my leadership philosophy is to keep students at the core of all my work, providing quality instruction, necessary reflection, as well as a safe place for all students to learn. If students are at the center of everything we do, we can work more effectively to close achievement gaps, master standards, and build a transformational culture.One of the primary responsibilities of a leader is to provide a safe space to learn. As a leader, I will focus on creating a safe and warm instructional community at my school. We need to build relationships with our students so they feel safe, trusts the adults around them and have the desire to want to come to school each and every day. We can create this through morning meetings, team building, and assemblies at our school. Culture is the foundation to learning and the ability to obtain the growth in students that we want and need to see.Instruction should be planned, executed and assessed around the standards, and using student data to inform us on our instructional moves. As a leader, it is critical that my staff reflect regularly, collaborate, and make instructional decisions based on formative and summative assessment data. Leaders should have a pulse on classrooms every day and use that data to identify schoolwide trends and areas of success as well as opportunity. Schoolwide interim assessments should be used to progress monitor the whole school and make leadership moves off of that data. Standards and data are the key to successful instruction.In the end it all comes back to the students. We need to have them at the center otherwise we are engaging in an injustice. As a leader I want to find and retain staff that have the same heart, focus and drive to help educate the next generation.
