Joseph Powell, Esq., is the managing partner of Powell, Kugelman and Postell, LLC, the successor firm to Powell & Roman. He has been litigating insurance defense and coverage matters for 25 years and has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years. Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Powell worked as a professional liability underwriter, field inspector, and claim investigator. He has held a Chartered Property Casualty & Underwriting (C.P.C.U.) designation since 1995. Mr. Powell was a founding partner of Parsons, Powell & Lane, LLC, where he managed the insurance division of that firm for ten years, from 1997 through 2007. He then led the Powell & Roman firm through 2020 which became Powell, Kugelman & Postell after elevating two partners within the firm. Mr. Powell has also lectured in both the United States and London on topics including the legal impact of Super Storm Sandy, Insurance Broker Malpractice Prevention, Arson Defense, Defending Brain Injury Claims, and current trends in insurance law.
