I have worked as a First Aider at a variety of venues across London and Manchester, including from 2-person teams up to the 100s of people employed to work at the Manchester City Homecoming Parade. I have improved my confidence in the management of minor medical conditions and injuries and learnt a lot about the provision of medical care in the prehospital environment.

After reading Peter Singer's seminal work "The Life You Can Save", I was inspired to start a Manchester branch of One for the World. We aim to start a conversation around effective giving amongst university students and encourage them to pledge 1% of their post-graduation income to some of the world's most effective charities.

After being the only first-year student elected onto the committee, I enjoyed organising lectures and events for members of the Manchester Wilderness Medicine Society. I planned and delivered small-group simulation sessions in the field on our weekend trips, and made some of my best friends along the way.

Medical Assessment Unit

While working at the MAU of the Royal United Hospital during my year off, I:- Assisted patients with personal care and nursing staff with basic clinical procedures- Shadowed several foundation doctors in my time off in order to gain an insight into a medical career- Worked towards the Care Certificate
