I am currently in the role of Special Counsel in WorkSafe Victoria's Strategic Delivery stream, advising WorkSafe's Enforcement and Advice team and Claims Transformation teams about topics including:- Occupational Health and Safety;- Inspectors and their powers;- Workers Compensation, claims and premiums;- Licensing requirements;- Employment law/change management; and - Governance and Risk.I have worked in employment law, in the WR&S team at Lander & Rogers then as Legal Counsel (IR/ER) in the WorkSafe Victoria Corporate Legal team. I have advised in relation to industrial and employee relations issues both at a policy level and on individual matters, including in relation to WorkSafe's head office relocation from Melbourne CBD to Geelong and its impacts on employees, including drafting the Geelong Relocation Deed, which provides benefits to encourage employees to continue to work with WorkSafe following the move. My expertise includes:- Drafting contracts/Enterprise Agreements;- Managing terminations and redundancy programs;- Defending, and negotiating positive outcomes, in discrimination/general protections matters and unfair dismissal claims;- Conducting investigations into inappropriate workplace behaviour/bullying;- Assisting HR professionals in implementing disciplinary processes;- Drafting policies on topics including workplace behaviour, drugs & alcohol, e-mail/internet use (including social media), and OH&S;- Delivering specialised training sessions;- Advising employers about compliance with WorkChoices/Fair Work Act legislative reforms; and- Advising about returning ill or injured employees to work in compliance with legislation.As part of WorkSafe's Corporate Legal team I have worked on non-IR/ER matters including responding to Royal Commissions/inquiries, representing WorkSafe on interdepartmental committees, managing litigation and giving general legal advice.I was on the NRL Victoria Board, including as chair 2013-2018.
