My goal is to join an engineering team where I can be an active problem solver by contributing my over 10 years of experience with engineering involving Navy combat systems safety, pumps, nuclear fluid systems, and steam turbines. Currently I work as a Combat Systems Safety Engineering Lead for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division. I am responsible for assessing updates to the combat system for Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Freedom variant for safety risk and communicating risk in order to maintain Weapon Systems Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) approvals for live firing exercises and concurrences for deployment. Maintaining WSESRB approval ensures that LCS Freedom variant can conduct mission essential testing events and operations at an acceptable level of risk.Previously, I worked as a Mechanical Engineer 2 for Newport News Shipbuilding. Primarily, I collaborated with a team of engineers to analyze and resolve emergent issues regarding the pumps, piping, and piping components within the nuclear fluid systems for the Nimitz class Navy aircraft carriers. Also, I was responsible for the disposition of repair parts that have reported deficiencies. I provided guidance to new engineers regarding work products. I acted as a technical lead during the preparation of several technical drawings and 3D models of components. I also enjoy engineering design work. I prepared drawings on a as needed basis for representatives bidding pump and mixer stations using AutoCAD, before it went to the project engineer. I communicated with our representatives on a daily basis to determine their needs for bidding projects, and for currently installed pump and mixer stations. As a application engineer with KSB, I provided the initial pump or mixer selections, prepared proposals, and prepared pricing for the projects our representatives were bidding.I enjoy hands on work, and communicating directly with others to solve problems. During my time with Hourigan Construction I worked as a Engineering Intern, and worked both in and outside of the field office. I would act as a liaison between the VCU medical center employees and the contractors. I was supervising the overnight demolition shifts. During the overnight shifts I would coordinate the demolition, clean up, and haul away of debris, and assist as needed.
