During my time in service. I was routinely recognized for performing above and beyond my peers in a multi-cultural and ethnic environment. I have shown myself to adept in an environment that was constantly changing. Regardless of whether I was overseas in the Pacific on the Island of Okinawa, in the Philippines, or in the Pacific working with a diverse crew, I was continually recognized for my leadership capabilities. I was stationed in 29 Palms for a year in 2009. While at 29 Palms for job training, I was selected as leader of the class and was responsible for the daily operating tasks of 30 Comm students. I was formally recognized at the end of the schooling for my commitment and capabilities as a leader. Even with the additional workload as a leader, I finished second in my class at school and was selected to go overseas to Japan as a leader since Okinawa is where most of the students in the class were sent. I served in Okinawa, Japan from 2010 - 2012. During that time I was routinely exposed to the Japanese culture as well as various other cultures in Asia. During my time in Okinawa, I was continually placed in leadership positions above my peers and was formally recognized for this service with the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.Upon the completion of my time stationed in Okinawa, I was sent to California and served with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment (1/5). This regiment is the most decorated unit within the Marine Corps and I worked within various departments due to my ability to adapt and overcome challenges with minimum oversight and maximum success. 1/5 was deployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) where we returned to the Pacific and was deployed in various operations. While on the deployment, I was responsible for the activities and operations of Marines and sailors under my care. Upon the return from deployment, I continued to serve within various leadership roles within the Battalion until I returned to civilian life.
