I’ll never forget the first time I discovered what writing code was and exactly what I wrote. I was 10 years old, and our family just got a Commodore 64. The trend even then was to use your computer to play games that were loaded up from a cassette player. Well one night, after my brother finally relinquished use of the computer to me, I discovered that he took the games with him to his friend’s house! All I had was the user’s manual. So, I started on page one and before I knew it, I was writing code in BASIC with if/then statements and loops. The result was my own game with a “ball” bouncing around the screen.This enthusiasm for development and delivery of software has never left me. My ability to code at an early age propelled me to complete an undergrad degree in Statistics and to go on to learn about software development from a post-graduate diploma program. I had the opportunity to learn new programming languages, algorithms, principles of statistics and probability as well as data analysis. That passion and dedication to education afforded me over 20 years in the software industry mainly working with Microsoft technologies.Keeping your skills current in the software industry can be a challenge. It is something that I have been pursuing my whole career. I have completed a graduate level degree in MSIT - Master of Science in Information Technology, from the school of business at Florida Institute of Technology. As well as achieving Microsoft Certifications in Azure Fundamentals, Azure Developer Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer and Azure Coud Solutions Architect. When I’m not engaged in software development, I really enjoy other activities like working out at the gym, playing hockey and getting out on my boat.
