Learning, completing and deploying personal projects to strengthen and showcase my coding abilities. Main focus is on React with Redux, but also build API's with Node and Express. Other skills include Python, integrating with MongoDB, Typescript, HTML5, CSS and Sass.# Dengie TakeawaysA takeaway app based on my local area. Front-End built with React using functional components with hooks. This was my first project using Redux with Redux toolkit, including writing custom middleware to handle API request with Axios and using Persistence. Fully responsive site, including error pages and loading icons. Backend created with Node, express and mongoose, connecting to a MongoDB database.# Word Association GameA word association game where users have 90 seconds or 3 lives to get as many correct answers as possible. Made with React and Bootstrap using class components. Features include user registration and login and live leaderboard. Logged in users can delete scores from the leaderboard as well as seeing answers for words they got wrong. Backend created as above, with the addition of user registration and authentication using JWT's as well as encrypting passwords via salting & hashing.

In charge of fitting the boats out from a bare hull to being able to race across an ocean. These were elite ocean rowing boats built to an extremely high standard with an emphasis on balancing speed and safety. During my tenure I cut production time by 15% without compromising quality, by implementing an ordered standardised system. Head of the carbon and oar department, building high strength, low-weight oars, footplates, and seats from scratch. Through taking careful measurements of every component and exploring alternatives I reduced oar weight by 10% whilst keeping breakage rate below 0.5%.Regularly met clients, walking them through the build process and advising them on custom modifications. When a rower had a problem at sea I would talk to them by phone, explaining calmly and clearly how to best resolve the issue in such high pressure situations.Planning and hosting our inaugural and subsequent open days, concentrating on delivering an enjoyable and instructive event. We would entertain 200+ guests, answering any questions they might have about our boats and the rowing world, communicating technical concepts in layperson's terms, as for many of the guests this was their first exposure to ocean rowing. When I started at the company I was employed part-time to help with menial tasks around the workshop. Despite having no prior experience in the field, through my exemplary work ethic and attention to detail I worked my way up to become a full-time, integral part of the team.

Berlin Area, Germany

After University I moved to Berlin for a year to experience a different culture. Working for Deliveroo was the perfect way to have flexible hours whilst getting to see more of the city. I also progressed well in learning German, progressing to a B1 level.
