I currently work as the Pharmacy Manager of a busy independent pharmacy that provides the medication needs of an underserved community. In addition to all federal and state regulatory related responsibilities of the supervising pharmacist, I provided outreach options for our patients. Some of the services that were facilitated include giving information about health screenings, identifying at risk individuals, providing literature to prevent drug and alcohol abuse, and using our bi-lingual staff to initiate conversations about the understanding a patient has about their own health. We are a proactive pharmacy and medication adherence is a top priority. As the leader of this pharmacy, I am responsible for ensuring that our Star ratings are at or near the top and I have implemented procedures that will ensure our continued success in this area. I manage a diverse staff and provide a space where all employees are given a pathway to success. I oversee the Human Resources department of the pharmacy and maintain all aspects including hiring, training, following labor laws, resolving workplace conflicts, and assisting in making business decisions.

In short, I am responsible for dispensing prescriptions by following standard operating procedures for receiving, filling, dispensing, logging, and maintaining loss prevention controls. I ensure that policies and Federal and State laws and regulations in all prescription-related issues, including HIPAA, are followed. I provide counseling on both prescription medications and over the counter medications per Company policy and as required by State and Federal law. I ensure that all control drug policies and procedures as required by State, Federal, and Company guidelines are followed. I perform trouble shooting functions for third party discrepancies and other prescription filling issues and verify that all required pharmacy, pharmacist and technician licenses/registrations are current and valid as required by State, Federal, and Company guidelines. I am responsible for hiring and maintaining an adequate staff to perform these duties within the constraints of the company budget to ensure that our monetary goals are met each year.

I served as pharmacy manager at a location in the upper east side of Manhattan. This location catered to the medication needs of a diverse group of residents. I performed all duties that are required by the state of NY to maintain my position as a supervising pharmacist.
