Instructional designer with over 5 years of experience working in higher education. I support the development of online courses (synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid). I work with faculty, instructors, students, and other stakeholders to foster positive learning experiences with empathy for users. Born and raised in Hawaii, the melting pot of the Pacific, I grew up around people from other countries. I went through the Hawaii educational system and achieved academic excellence. I started with a Liberal Arts Degree to complete general education classes. Then I transferred to the University of Hawaii for a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Later, I completed two master’s degrees, one in Second Language Studies, and the other in Learning and Design Technology (LTEC). I'm currently enrolled in the LTEC Phd Program, online. I have been working in the field of education for my entire career of over 10 years, which includes teaching at all levels of education dealing with both local and international students in both public and private sectors. I successfully identified and addressed a variety of students' needs and requirements by providing a supportive learning environment. I've participated in various learning situations as both a student and teacher.I'm familiar with technology integration into education. I own both PC and Mac computers and use them extensively. I'm adept in HTML and CSS programming to help back-end issues and implement instructional design. I've created online courses with instructors. I've helped students and teachers utilize various tools within online learning management systems (LMS) such as Sakai and Moodle. I promote personalization, connection, and outcome based competency. I continue to motivate teacher & student curiosity through engagement in active learning and development.
