Assistant Manager Children’S Library – Teen
Under the direction of the Children’s Library Manager and in cooperation with the Youth Services Coordinator, the Assistant Manager Teen Services provides leadership for teen/tween services and programming at Main Library with focus on engagement and collaboration with teens/tweens (typically ages 10-18) including those with diverse backgrounds. My job duties consist of assisting customers with computer usage and questions, accessing research databases, online learning resources, and tablet/device use. I am the trouble-shooter at my branch for issues with any computer, tablet, research databases, etc. At least once a week for the last 17 months I have assisted a patron with various problems they are having with Overdrive, or by taking them through the entire process of downloading the App to checking out an eBook. I also assist patrons with accessing Zinio, Comicsplus, EBSCO eBooks, Explora, and many more online resources. My duties also consist of dealing with any customer issues and resolving conflicts. I am in charge of editing our staff Intranet page using Sharepoint at my branch. I am responsible for scheduling and hosting technological educational programs such as Introduction to Computers, Word, iPad, cloud storage, internet safety and more. I am also responsible for planning young adult social events at my branch. Teen participation at my branch has grown up to 1200% since I have been the Teen Specialist at my branch. We have also developed a Teen Advisory Group since I have been in charge, and we currently have 8 members participating monthly. I am also responsible for planning and participating in outreach to two local high schools and a middle-school in the area to promote our teen events and assist with the library having a presence at these schools. I have used SirsiDynix WorkFlows every day at my position. I have a great deal of experience with assisting customers with locating material, checking it out to them, and utilizing Inter-Library Loan to access the items we do not have for our customers. I was also given the responsibility to create the monthly schedule for staffing recently.
