Working as Barge Supervisor, I have many roles and duties within my job description:• Second in command of the unit/understudy of the OIM• HSE Advisor• COSHH Coordinator• Permit to work controller• OOW when moving to and from port and other locations• Ensuring effective control and efficient operation of the units jacking system• Effective control and efficient operation of the units ballast control system console• Be able to effectively operate the ballast system manually• Assist in all aspects of anchor handling operations• Maintenance of stability and trim of unit to ensure compliance of statutory criteria• Monitoring of the units position in relationship to the adjacent structure, taking into account the units operational capabilities• Assisting the OIM with daily stability calculations as to variable load capacity• GMDSS Operator• Units Ship Safety Officer• Participating in the development of unit move plans with the OIM• Liaising with Chief Mechanic to Pre-Plan the tank rotation for fuel consumption• Ensuring that all deck cargo is secured as and when required and organizing cargo transfer operations• Ensuring all navigation charts and publications are corrected and up to date• Upkeep of emergency muster lists• In port unit security, watch keeping arrangements and provision of safe means of access,• Assisting OIM in emergency situation• Familiar with units and local waste management procedures• Abiding by company procedures, policies and instructions during an emergency situation and ensure all under his control also comply• Carry out all daily, weekly and routine checks on the jacking system• Assist in repair work of the jacking system machinery• Offshore Aeronautical Radio Station Operator Show less
