I am currently employed in the Criminal Division of the Darwin office. My work with NAAJA includes carriage of matters in both the Local and Supreme Court's of the Northern Territory.Duties include:- Appearing as junior counsel in trial matters in the NT Supreme Court, including serious matters such as supply dangerous drug, etc.;- Instruct in trial matters in the NT Supreme Court, including serious matters such as murder, etc.;- Appear as lead counsel in NT Supreme Court LCA appeals;- Supreme Court pleas, bail reviews, and mentions; - Duty list work, including supervising the bail and arrest court, and running the directions hearing list;- Remote circuit court work, including work at busy community courts such as Wadeye, Alyangula, etc.;- Local Court sentences, hearings, and bail applications; and- Joint carriage of serious indictable matters, including: Murder, Unlawfully Cause Serious Harm, Aggravated Robbery, and Supply of a Dangerous Drug.

My practice at the ALS included work in the Local, Children’s and District Courts.Duties included:- List work, including: Local Court List days, Children’s Court List days, and Director of Public Prosecutions List days;- Local Court sentences, hearings, and bail applications;- District Court conviction and severity appeals, as well as bail variations;- Applications under the Mental Health (Forensic Provisions) Act;- Carriage of Strictly Indictable matters, including: manslaughter, robbery armed with an offensive weapon, Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, etc.; and- Instructing in Trial’s in the District Court.I also assisted advocate Jeremy Styles in the recent Supreme Court contempt matter of Armidale Local Aboriginal Lands Council v Moran [2020] NSWSC 442 (see para [26] and [35]).Additionally, I authored a paper entitled A Beginners Guide to Appeals Bail in the Local Court.
