During my summer internship at Arbella Insurance, I worked on the IMSS Team, which managed and created processes that work with databases. I performed extensive manual testing using SQL and Hive to validate data from incremental loads in these databases, examined metadata and data lineage using Informatica, wrote a script in Python to facilitate moving files on the desktop for easier and faster access, attended meetings and learned how a real office environment works, learned a bit about insurance, and did other miscellaneous tasks to help out the team. I also had the chance to volunteer in and around Quincy and Boston on numerous occasions to give back to the community, which was very fulfilling.

Westwood, Massachusetts

As a Sales Floor Team Member, I helped guests with any sorts of questions they have, pushed merchandise to the sales floor, and kept the store looking clean, tidy, and easy to shop, among other things. Additionally, I was cross trained as a cashier, electronics team member, and consumables team member, along with a brief introduction to the back room, which includes stocking and pulling items from storage. Because of my strong/consistent work habits and ability to get along with others easily, I was asked to become a trainer in addition to my previous responsibilities. I often spent a few days at a time training new employees, properly acclimating them to their new environment.

At Kumon, I worked with children and teenagers ranging from pre-school to their senior year of high school in order to help them improve their skills in the math, reading, and writing departments via on-site tutoring. This included grading their work with them, discussing how to fix their mistakes, and giving further practice worksheets, problems, and examples with the goal of deepening their understanding of the topic.
