In this position I performed both inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy across the hospital. I received and tracked specimens using the EPIC and Sunquest laboratory information management systems. Additionally, I maintained, cleaned, and kept stocked patient draw areas and mobile collection carts. I worked with nursing staff and laboratory technicians to ensure that issues relating to specimen collection were resolved. In this position I gained experience in communicating with patients using politeness, patience, and confidence before and during specimen collection.

As a graduate researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Jason DeRouchey I developed and defended a thesis to support synthesis and biophysical characterization of nucleic acid condensing agents for use in gene delivery.
