Williamson is a safe community that allows volunteers to see and experience an authentic Appalachian culture.As a community partners board member, Mr. Mathis provides strategic insight in expanding the Sustainable Williamson platform throughout central Appalachia with a specific focus on implementation of regenerative approaches to mine-site reclamation.

MCDC's primary focus is preventing and managing type 2 diabetes along with the promotion of healthy eating practices, exercise, and healthy lifestyle changes.The diabetes coalition employs three Health and Wellness promoters to plan and execute several events/programs throughout the year as well as a clinical team to raise awareness in the community for a more healthy lifestyle in Williamson WV.
