The Red Devils Free Fall Team is the official Parachute display team of the British Army and exists to keep the army in the public eye, and recruit quality individuals into both the Parachute Regiment, and the wider Army. Commanding the team is a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation within an extreme sport, whilst still serving in the Army. As the Performance Director and Operations Manager, I have had the opportunity to develop partnerships with sponsors, deliver training and displays nationally and internationally and set the conditions for the team's success.

Commissioning into the Parachute Regiment, though not easy, was the obvious choice for me. An emphasis on fitness and high performance, and the chance to work with and command the high performing British Airborne soldier was the challenge I was looking for. Having completed P Coy and specialised infantry training, I took command of my first platoon and deployed on a 6 month to Helmand Province, fighting insurgents and securing territory, setting the conditions for relief and development work. Operating at reach, and in isolated conditions in a high pressure and constantly changing environment is the most challenged and rewarded I have ever felt. Serving on operations with The Parachute Regiment was truly an honour, and the lessons about teamwork and trust will remain with me forever. Having commanded paratroopers on operations, I have since had the privilege of the responsibility for training soldiers at all levels. Transforming young civilians into elite trained soldiers as a Platoon Commander and Instructor at the Parachute Regiment Training depot was an amazing experience and a key inspiration for my desire to work in elite performance and with motivated athletes.My next job was the Training Officer of The Second Battalion The Parachute Regiment, also responsible for Air Operations. This was my first real insight into large scale logistics, specifically relating to deploying operations and exercises abroad, as well as collective training. Moving away from the mindset and motivation of individual soldiers under my command, here I had the responsibility for infrastructure, budget, and stakeholder engagement at international and diplomatic levels, to set the conditions for quality training around the world.
