At Reaforma, we produce carbon-negative Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) using reclaimed clays to replace clinker and waste biomass for energy (we use 50% less energy compared with traditional cement production). The process sequesters CO2 by storing it as bio-oil/char and uses residual heat from the pyrolysis process to calcine clays. The chosen method of carbon storage as bio-oil is due to the reduced complexity of underground storage and lower chance of leakage.
