Joined Geller & Company in March 2002 as part of sale of my business to Geller & Company to launch Emerging Business Group. Grew revenues by 80% and headcount from 35 to 68 during 12-month period. During the first 100 days reorganized the management team into an Executive Committee and Operating Committee. Immediately addressed the under performers and moved them out and replaced them with high caliber talent. Recruited the group’s first dedicated Head of Business Development and created a new position SEC Quality Review. Instituted an in-house training program that was provided on a monthly basis and was mandatory for all new hires. As founding member of Emerging Business Group (“EBG”) Joe served as interim CFO to various metropolitan area companies both publicly and privately held. Services included business plan development, preparation of presentations for raising venture capital, recruiting and building management teams. The firm offered CFO and controllership services to emerging businesses for transaction processing and monthly financial reporting to numerous businesses in the metropolitan area. The firm was featured in articles in Crain’s NY and The Journal of Accountancy. Sold to Geller & Co. in March 2002.

Skilltech was a publicly traded financial printer provided printing and distribution services to the Wall Street community.Upon promotion, successfully guided company through SEC investigation and successfully won NASDAQ delisting hearing. Raised financing through Reg S, convertible bond offerings and preferred stock issuances. Led strategic shift from traditional Offset print shop to Digital print shop. Integrated Acquisitions of several competitors bring together operations, management teams, workflow and process of union and non-union shops. Worked with unions to renegotiate key agreements.

As CFO, managed a staff of 14 accounting and finance professionals. Joe had direct responsibility for SEC Reporting including preparation and filing of 10Q’s, 10K’s and all communications with investors as well as managing the Companies annual audit by Grant Thornton.Negotiated with key vendors to convert $1.5 million of trade payables into unsecured notes to create liquidity to fund operations while continuing to get products from key suppliers, renegotiated bank lines and negotiated the Company’s debt holders the conversion of 12% secured bonds into the Companies preferred stock. Automated overall accounting function and integrated flow of data from operations into finance to create efficiencies and expedite the financial reporting process.
