Joe is an Intellectual Property(IP) attorney with more than fifteen years of experience in the computer software industry. He began his career as a software engineer at IBM, where he spent nearly five years developing strong technical skills with hands-on industry experience. Most of his time at IBM was spent working as a software developer writing code (C, C++, and Java). He later joined IBM’s patent committees and participated in their patent attorney training program. This is where he learned the value of Intellectual Property and how to identify IP assets that provide business value. He eventually transitioned from software development to work full-time as part of IBM’s in-house legal team, where he managed a portion of their massive IP portfolio.Joe has a particular interest in protecting inventions and has worked on more than 1,000 patents over the course of his career, which spans working as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent Office, at large law firms, at IBM, and now at Datadog.
