Six years ago, a near-death experience transformed my perspective of healthcare forever.An undiagnosed case of Padgett-Schroders syndrome had allowed an 8-inch clot to form in my subclavian vein, threatening a pulmonary embolism. What followed was intense: an emergency thrombectomy, 6 months of blood thinners, and ultimately the surgical resection of two my ribs. Today, I'm on blood thinners for life with a gnarly scar to show for it (I'm still upset they wouldn't let me keep the ribs as a souvenir.) This journey through the healthcare system opened my eyes to critical problems that need solving:- An inverted incentive structure that rushes patients to intervention over prevention- A system excellent at acute care but struggling with long-term health- Patients who need advocates just to navigate their own careBut it also showed me where change is possible.I believe the key to transforming healthcare lies in helping innovative solutions gain wider adoption. While the system works brilliantly for acute care (my thrombectomy saved my life), we desperately need new models for long-term health and prevention.My mission is to help bridge the trust gap between healthcare innovation and adoption. I'm particularly focused on the employer healthcare space, where the alignment of incentives creates real opportunity for change.
