I help government get tech right and tech get governance right.I work in technology policy as the Distinguished Technologist for a Strong Internet at The Internet Society (ISOC), an executive-level expert role. I direct staff around the world and leading teams that work on encryption, routing security, Internet fragmentation, and advocating for the Internet Way of Networking. At ISOC, we are a global non-profit organization dedicated to an open, globally-connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet for everyone. We work in high technology and high technology policy.I'm trained in astrophysics (Masters, 2003) and information systems (Masters, 2005; PhD, 2008). In my PhD work, I focused on science and technology policy with an emphasis on voting technology policy, government information systems, computer security and privacy, and health IT policy. At CDT I performed detailed technical analysis to support technology policy proposals, strategic technology policy advocacy, product reviews (usability, security, privacy) and work with our supporters and other stakeholders to provide a sound basis for decision-making.
