Intel Corporation -Life Safety Systems (LSS) Commissioning Engineer.

I was engaged at the BHP Leinster Nickel Operation conducting complex Programmed Maintenance and Minor Works installations on various types of Fire detection, Water based and Special Hazard Gaseous fire Suppression systems. The role involves systematic testing of the fire detection assets to prove performance capabilities and to establish if the fire protection is meeting the Engineered criteria it was designed for. I am responsible for reporting and prioritising any defects found assessing the level of risk and the onsite rectification where possible.As part of a team we are carrying out system upgrades and redesigning the coverage where excessive levels of risk to people, assets and infrastructure is identified meeting the current Australian Standard.

My core role within the business as a Fire Technician involved new installations and reactive maintenance on a range of different Fire detection systems and technologies.Identifying system defects and non conformance through routine testing and conducting system upgrading where required to bring the systems design inline with current standards and Practices.My auxiliary roles within the business unit included the maintenance of portable fire equipment and routine testing of wet fire systems.I reported directly to the state manager and working closely with our clients senior Facility managers we developed a schedule that allowed our clients meet their fire compliance and Electrical obligations on time and within budget. As an Electrician I was the Western Australian devisions Electrical license nominee, I was responsible for overseeing all Electrical works and ensuring all testing and legislative obligations where recorded, filed and submitted to the Office of Energy Safety where required.

Providing electrical services while developing and growing the business. As an Electrical contractor I was responsible for the design and installation of electrical services. The business was licensed to supply and install Air Conditioning systems, the Installation and Maintenance of Automatic fire protection systems, low voltage electrical wiring systems and Structured cabling systems.As the sole owner operator my responsibilities spaned across many descipines in the business. My main goal was to grow the businesses clientele base spending time following up on prospective clients, submittimg quotes and renegotiating pricing with suppliers. I engaged a subcontractor at peak times and organised the dailey run which freed up my time allowing me to concentrate more on expanding and growing the business.

My time as an Electrical Technician at Chubb Fire and Security required me to use my knowledge and skill set across the broad spectrum of the electrical discipline. My core role within Chubb Fire was reactive maintenance. My duties as an Electrical Technician required me to have sound logical and proven fault finding techniques with extensive product knowledge of the many different makes of fire alarm systems on the market. I worked on numerous minor to medium size fire alarm installation projects across mainy industries including the Telecommunication, government and military.

Installation and Commissioning of Alarm Signaling Equipment (ASE) in Fire Alarm Panels throughout Western Australia. The project involed Chubb Fire, The department of Fire and Emergency Servies(DFES) prevouly known as (FESA) and Telstra. The project gave me a well rounded insight into the workings of the telecommunications industry and the fire industry in WA. I was resonssible for intalling an ASE prouduct known as Code Red, the project involed ensuring 3rd Party vendor Fire Systems complied with AS/NZS 1670.2004 and the Equipments guidlines before I commenced the decommisioning of any essential signaling quipment. I was responsible for ensuring the equipment was installed as per ACM S009 and all 3G/PSTN transmissions where received at the call.centre. I worked with and asseted Telstra when installing these units and when an issue was identified on the network that caused a failure of the communication path.

As an Electrician I was responsible for carrying out all elements of the electical trade. I worked on numerous large industrial and commercial government projects including, Terminal 2 Dublin Airport, Main hub Google Data Centre, Secondary Schools and the main Engineering wing of Galway University.My duties included installing electrical wiring systems and containment as depicted on the Engineers schematics to a professional trade finish . All the works done onsite had to be checked by the main contractors Engineers and Inspectors before sign off as any irregularities or non conformance with the clients tendered scope would result in delays and penalties. I was part of the commissioning team responsible for carrying out the electrical inspecting and testing.

My responsibilities included the installation of many different electrical systems, reactive and preventive maintenance on many different type of Fire & Security Alarm systems.I was required process indept knowledge of both the current EU and Irish installation and maintenance standards in regards to the following to folowing:-Intruder Alarm systems to EN50131.-CCTV Systems to EN50132. -Access control Systems.-Fire alarm systems to I.S.3218My duties as an Apprentice electrician involved installing low voltage wiring systems in domestic and medium size commercial buildings.I would also carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on emergency lighting systems to IS3217.
