I'm pursuing a Ph.D. at Virginia Tech in the Civil Engineering department, my research focuses on bridging the gap between residents and their understanding of how energy is consumed throughout their homes, utilizing different data visualization mediums. During my master's study, I worked with residents living in an affordable housing community where I collaborated with them to create personalized energy dashboards tailored to their energy and data literacy levels. Most important we meet residents at their current level, valuing their current knowledge related to energy and data. For my Ph.D., I'm taking my master's study to the next level by displaying residential energy data through the lens of virtual reality. Imagine putting on a VR headset and seeing energy flowing through wires to different appliances erasing residents' misconceptions about how energy is consumed throughout their home.

In this internship, I am working with Unity 3D and Oculus Rift Headset. Unity 3D is a software that allows you to create a 3D environment and Oculus Rift is a headset you wear that allows you to be immersed in that 3D environment which you created in Unity 3D. I'm in the process of creating the Clemson Experience. Just imagine putting on a set of goggles and getting the full Clemson Experience without setting foot on campus.

Replicate the sustainable infrastructure into two virtual reality models, one being non-vividness and the other vividness. Conduct an experiment in which the user experienced and analyzed three different models; 2D, non-vividness, and vividness models.

In my research I Integrated real life characteristics and features to an 3D model of a athletic venue, Implemented Unity 3D and Oculus Rift to Create the Clemson Experience, and presented a poster at the XSEDE Conference (Extreme Science and Engineering Discover Environment). Just imagine putting on a set of goggles and being immersed into any environment of your choice in a matter of seconds, this is what my research consist of during the summer.
