About Joseph Jungermann

I am a graduate of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY and have over five years of writing and editing experience. I began my career in 2016 as a sports reporter covering major sports leagues in the United States. At CUNY, I specialized as a data and investigative journalist covering urban politics, criminal justice, social issues and housing. In the summer of 2020, I spent time as a data journalist intern for Kansas City non-profit outlet The Beacon and wrote an investigative piece on police use-of-force that influenced law-enforcement policy change. I have been a college assistant for CUNY, helping to teach students in a fundamentals of data journalism course, and I am currently a researcher for The Real Deal, where I use my data and reporting skills to bring transparency to the nation’s complex real estate market. You can visit my portfolio at the following link: https://josephjungermann.github.io/.
